Performed by the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra String Quartet, “Sisterhood Soundscape” will highlight select works by women composers of contemporary and American classical music. This event is free to the public.
Sisterhood Soundscape invites listeners into four captivating sound worlds, performed by the brilliant New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra String Quartet. Jessie Montgomery’s Voodoo Dolls crackles with rhythmic energy and playful intensity, while Reena Esmail’s This Is It blends vibrant color tones and contemporary harmony. Florence Price’s String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor offers a deeply expressive journey, weaving lyrical melodies with the rich musical traditions, and Caroline Shaw’s Valencia rounds out the program with its inventive textures, unexpected gestures, and sense of whimsy. Together, these works showcase the remarkable range and individuality of women shaping the sound of contemporary and American classical music.
