Tavern Talks

Meet at the Cornelius Low House Museum at 10 am for a free guided tour of the 250th-themed exhibit. See never-before-exhibited objects and historic records from the American Revolution brought together from lenders and archives around the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Explore interactive displays that tell the story of the people, places, and events that shaped our history.

Following the tour, you can take a quick drive across the river to New Brunswick for an award-winning Tavern Talks starting at 12 pm, hosted by the NJ Historical Commission at Harvest Moon Brewery and Café. Spend your afternoon chatting with historical reenactors. Enjoy debates and discussions to help influence and reimagine key decisions that shaped our revolutionary past, and find out what happens when a loyalist, a patriot, and a pacifist walk into a bar.

Over the course of the event, reenactors will cycle around the room, akin to historical “speed dating,” allowing participants to hear different perspectives and experiences about the past. Prepare includes the program’s goal, guiding questions, and necessary historical context. Participants meet and talk with the reenactors.

At the end of the program, all attendees will be asked to reflect on the experience in a group share, discussing what they heard, learned, and decided.
